Out of Reach

Can you hold on now?
just one more night.
Will you live to see another mornings light,
come streaming through the window
to light the day for thee.
I still hold on to memories
of the things you used to be...
So strong- and yet so caring
with arms just full of love
how you were always, always there
but now, you are above.
i hope in time the memories fade
so i forget your final days,
spent sighing on your bed
and to think of all the happy times
that we shared instead.
Those days spent in the garden,
under flawless skys
and rainy afternoons
sat watching the world go by...
I wander what you think of now,
your mind has slipped away.
Do you think of all the things we said
or are they gone today?
Do you remember much of me?
all the things i could have been
my silly little ways
and my childhood dreams.
Days spent on the cliff side
or down beside the beach.
I want to pull you close
but now you're out of reach.
