When once what breathed
has turned to dust
and all around me’s failed
when grass does grow
upon my bed
and all my world has paled
the sky will still be blue above
the grass green far below
and in between and all around
there’s one thing you should know
I am the bird that sings
And flys with silken wings
I am the English oak
I am the soft grey smoke
That pours from every chimney.
I am the sky it touches
In every colour blue
I water every flower,
In every sort of hue
I am each passing hour
And yet time will never age
I am forever blades of grass
My death wont be a cage
I am the wind that blows
And the dancing flame
Forever I will live
Though no one speaks my name.
